Sikkim is a beautiful Himalayan state in northeastern India, bordered by Nepal, Bhutan, and Tibet. It was established as a kingdom in the 17th century under the Namgyal dynasty and was ruled by Chogyals for several centuries. Sikkim became a protectorate of India in 1950 and officially became the 22nd state of India in 1975. Today, Sikkim is known for its spectacular Himalayan landscapes, including Mount Kanchenjunga, Buddhist monasteries, diverse cultures, scenic valleys, and rich biodiversity. Its capital, Gangtok, is an important centre for tourism, administration, and culture. Darjeeling is a historic hill station in West Bengal, India, situated in the foothills of the Himalayas. Originally part of the Kingdom of Sikkim, the region came under British control in the 19th century and developed into a popular summer retreat. The British also introduced large-scale tea cultivation, making Darjeeling tea famous around the world. Today, Darjeeling is known for its scenic Himalayan landscapes, historic Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, tea gardens, colonial architecture, and rich cultural diversity. It remains one of India’s most popular mountain destinations.
